10¢ Beer Night – Homage
10¢ Beer Night from Homage Clothing is printed on a vintage blue t-shirt with a red and white silkscreen print. Not only does it look cool but it has a great story/conversation starter behind it too (description at the bottom of review). The vintage style shirt is really soft and a bit thin, but that’s a plus… it gives the t-shirt more of that vintage feel and it’s comfortable as hell. At $24.00 this is a pretty good buy, if not for the quality alone, the history behind the shirt is worth it.

My personal review of the ordering process and the shirt itself.
I ordered my shirt and it was processed and shipped the same day. After being shipped UPS ground it too 7 days (weekend in there too) to receive my order. Once I got the package I was surprised, it was delivered in a flat custom box with the words “Columbus Ohio” and “Homage” printed on opposite sides of the border of the box. The box was sealed with custom printed tape that repeated the words “Homage” and ”homageclothing.com” below.
When I opened the box, I found the shirt packaged in it’s own protective plastic bag. I also found an Homage sticker, a coupon for 20% off and a pack of WCW wrestling cards from 1991. These were all good surprises, especially the vintage cards. It’s little goodies like this that make the order that much better… good job Homage!
The shirt is great, the print looks vintage, it’s got a little rougher hand to the print, but still very cool. Shirt fits great and is super comfortable. I’ve got nothing but good things to say about this purchasing/product experience.
Below is the description of the shirt from the Homage site… like I said, great back story, this actually prompted me to purchase this t-shirt.
“Ten Cent Beer Night was a promotion held during a game between the Cleveland Indians and the Texas Rangers at Cleveland Municipal Stadium on June 4, 1974. The idea behind the promotion was to offer as many eight-ounce cups of Stroh’s beer as the fans could drink for just 10¢ each, thus increasing ticket sales.
In the ninth inning, a fan attempted to steal Texas outfielder Jeff Burroughs’ cap. Confronting the fan, Burroughs tripped, and Texas manager Billy Martin (thinking that Burroughs had been attacked) charged onto the field, his players right behind, some wielding bats. A large number of intoxicated fans – some armed with knives, chains, and portions of stadium seats that they had torn apart – surged onto the field, and others hurled bottles from the stands. Ken Aspromonte, the Indians’ manager, ordered his players to grab bats and help the Rangers.
The bases were pulled up and stolen and many rioters threw a vast array of objects including cups, rocks, bottles, batteries from radios, hot dogs, popcorn containers, and folding chairs. As a result, umpire crew chief Nestor Chylak, realizing that order would not be restored in a timely fashion, forfeited the game to Texas. He later called the fans “uncontrollable beasts” and stated that he’d never seen anything like what had happened, “except in a zoo”.
A riot squad from the Cleveland Police Department finally arrived to restore order.
The 25,134 fans in attendance (the past season’s average attendance had been 8,000) chugged down an estimated 60,000 cups of beer.”
Good Stuff,
-Tim
